Our Mission
We strive to provide a year round opportunity for people of all ages in the Gilmer area to experience leisure through recreational activities of all kinds with a Christian emphasis. It is the Recreation Ministries purpose to supplement the ministries of First United Methodist Church in carrying out its mission of nurturing, witnessing, and educating people through open doors and open minds.
Christian Life Center Philosophy
Recreation ministries is a way of showing people the church is indeed interested in ministering to the total person…from spiritual alertness and social development to physical fitness. Social recreation and team sports are a big part of our ministries as well as outdoor recreation, fitness, and day trips. Recreation gives members the opportunity to develop deeper relationships and friendships within the Methodist Church and the community. We want people to come enjoy our Christian Life Center and if they are not members, we want them to be invited and encouraged to visit the First United Methodist Church of Gilmer.
